Turkish furniture exports reached about US$4.6 billion in 2025, up 1.8% on 2024, according to the Ministry of Trade's Kolay İhracat platform. Iraq remained the top market, as it has been every year from 2009 onwards, and the industry association TAİF places Türkiye seventh among the world's furniture exporters.
This page is written by ellda mobilya, a furniture manufacturer in Kayseri, Türkiye, producing sofa sets, corner sofas, bed base sets and mattresses since 2010. We collect the official and industry figures in one place, explain where they disagree, and say what they mean for a buyer choosing a supplier. The headline numbers for 2025
| Measure | 2025 figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Furniture exports | About US$4.6 billion, up 1.8% | Kolay İhracat |
| Furniture, paper and forestry products combined | US$8.4 billion | TAİF, via Türkiye Today |
| Furniture imports | US$1.1 billion | TAİF, via Türkiye Today |
| World ranking | Seventh among furniture exporters | TAİF, via Türkiye Today |
| Average export value | US$3.10 per kilogram | TAİF, via Türkiye Today |
| Countries buying more than US$1 million | 150 | TAİF, via Türkiye Today |
The TAİF figures were given by its chairman to Anadolu Agency and reported by Türkiye Today in May 2026.
Be careful with the US$8 billion figure. Headlines about Turkish furniture exports "topping US$8 billion" refer to the combined sector of furniture, paper and forestry products. Furniture alone was about US$4.6 billion. If you quote Turkish furniture exports in a business plan or to a bank, use the furniture figure and name the source.
Where Turkish furniture goes: the top markets
Two lists of top markets are in circulation, and they are not the same:
- Kolay İhracat (Ministry of Trade): Iraq, Germany, the USA, France and Romania.
- TAİF (industry association): Iraq, the United Kingdom, Germany, the USA, Libya and France.
Both agree on Iraq first and on Germany, the USA and France in the leading group. The difference is in the UK, Libya and Romania. Lists like these depend on which product codes are counted as furniture and on the year's exact data cut, so treat the order below the top place as approximate.
TAİF also pointed to Saudi Arabia as a fast-growing market, with growth of more than 200% in 2025. That is an industry statement, not an official statistic, but it matches what Turkish exporters report about Gulf demand.
For a buyer, the market list is a rough map of where Turkish factories already have shipping and documentation routines. It tells you that exporting to Iraq, the Gulf, the UK and the EU is routine work for many of them. It does not tell you that any single supplier exports to your country; ask that question directly.
Which provinces export the most
TAİF's figures for 2025 put five provinces at the top of furniture exports:
| Province | 2025 furniture exports |
|---|---|
| Istanbul | US$3.5 billion |
| Bursa (İnegöl district) | US$910 million |
| İzmir | US$820 million |
| Kayseri | US$600 million |
| Gaziantep | US$590 million |
Provincial totals are registered where the exporting company is based. Istanbul's figure therefore includes many trading companies and brand head offices selling furniture made in other provinces. A Kayseri or İnegöl figure is closer to the output of local factories. The Ministry of Trade lists the main production regions, by share of output, as Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa (İnegöl), Kayseri, İzmir and Adana.
Kayseri's place matters if you buy upholstered furniture and bedding. Its organised industrial zone holds a dense cluster of sofa, bed base and mattress makers, and their component suppliers, which is why many Kayseri factories can produce both seating and bedding under one roof.
2026 so far
The first months of 2026 were flat. Sector reporting put January to April 2026 exports of furniture, paper and forest products together at US$2.462 billion, 1.8% below the same period of 2025, with April alone up 13.2% (Interior Daily, June 2026). Among the larger markets, Libya grew 47% and France 34% in that April report.
Note that these are combined-sector figures, like the US$8.4 billion total, so they are not directly comparable with the US$4.6 billion furniture figure. We will replace them with full-year furniture data when it is published.
How to check Turkish export figures yourself
Export statistics are easy to misquote. Three checks keep you on solid ground:
- Check what is counted as furniture. Customs chapter 94 includes seats, other furniture, mattresses and bedding, but also lamps and prefabricated buildings. Industry associations sometimes report furniture together with paper and forestry products. Read the definition before you compare two numbers.
- Check the reporter. An export figure reported by Türkiye and the import figure reported by the buying country rarely match, because of timing, valuation and classification differences. Use one side consistently. The UN Comtrade database lets you look up either side by product code.
- Check the year and the cut. Monthly sector releases are revised, and year-to-date figures change shape quickly. Always quote the period and the date you looked.
What the figures mean for buyers
The numbers support a few practical conclusions, whichever market you buy for:
- Export routines are mature. With 150 countries each buying more than US$1 million a year, export packing, shipping documents and foreign-language sales are normal work for many Turkish factories. You should expect a complete written quote and a loading plan.
- Proximity is the advantage for nearby markets. Iraq is reached by road, and the Gulf, North Africa, the UK and the EU by short sea or road routes. That shapes landed cost for a volume-bound product like upholstered furniture.
- Trade terms differ sharply by destination. The EU and the UK have preferential arrangements with Türkiye, while the USA applies additional tariffs to many Turkish goods. Read the market guide that applies to you, such as our guide to importing furniture from Turkey to the USA.
- A crowded market needs checks. Many exporters means many trading companies as well as factories. Our guide to furniture suppliers in Turkey explains how to tell them apart.
Where ellda fits in these figures
ellda mobilya is a Kayseri factory that works with export buyers. We produce sofa sets, corner sofas, bed base sets and mattresses in our 10,500 m² factory in Kayseri Organized Industrial Zone, with 80 models in our current catalogues. Seating and bedding can be combined in one export shipment, and the loading plan is shared with the quote. You can see the production steps on our production page.
We do not publish prices. Price, minimum quantities, lead time and delivery terms depend on the models, fabrics and destination, and are stated in the quote. Our sales team works in English, Arabic and Turkish.
